It is time to explore who I truly am as an individual. Yes, I want to be a better person for my kids and husband, as well as for my co-wrokers, students, family, etc. Truth is,I cannot be a better person for them, until I am a better person for ME.
I will blog about a variety of things. First and foremost, I want to challenge myself to different things which I will reflect on and blog about to help me grow as an individual. I also believe writing can be an extremely therapeutic tool for any one (wow my inner teacher is coming out!). When we write, we can express ourselves freely and let out many emotions that we have bottled up inside us.
Sure, I go to therapy and well...is that not supposed be enough therapy? WELL... yes and no. Sure, I am opening up to someone else. A third-party. She listens, nods, writes something in her notebook, gives me some type of direction, asks questions to get me to think, she takes $100 each session (make that $105 because I pay with my credit card), and we part our ways. This only happens twice a month for an hour each time. Mind you, there are 30 days in a month. This means I am not seeing her 28 days out of the month... and well, we all go through shit and I need to vent... and I need to continue to work on myself even when I am not sitting at the shrink's office.
With that said... Here goes nothing!
Tomorrow I will start with some type of challenge for myself. I want to be able to focus on that specific challenge for the day and then reflect on it. Many of the things I want to challenge myself on should be something difficult for me to do (duh! if it's not difficult, it's not a challenge).
On day #1: I will focus on being KIND
" When you are kind to someone in trouble, you'll hope they remember and be kind to someone else. And it'll become like a wildfire..." Whoopi Goldberg
Believe it or not, being kind is hard for me. I am a very judgemental person and sometimes I am a total sarcastic bitch!I take things very personal and if someone is rude to me, I tend to be rude right back. With that said, tomorrow I will cut out the sarcasm and be as kind as I can be. Even if others are being rude to me, I will be kind. The key here is for me to be genuinely kind. I will share the above mentioned quote with my students too! Hey maybe this is how we spread kindness like a wildfire. Let the fun begin!
When you are kind to
someone in trouble, you hope they'll remember and be kind to someone
else. And it'll become like a wildfire.
